Veuve Clicquot Comet Lamp by Tom Dixon/ Tom Dixon

"I created the Comet Lamp in a very natural sort of way. Specifically, while looking at the Veuve Clicquot Design Box and thinking of the technical complexity of the cardboard object with such a simple appearance. Next I thought about the emblems of Veuve Clicquot, and its mysterious star. I found that it was a reference to the comet seen in the Champagne region of France in 1811, the year of an exceptional vintage and the first year of the "modern champagnes" pioneered by Veuve Clicquot. And that’s when I had the idea! A Comet Lamp, romantic, beneficent and sparkling, like champagne, based on the universally attractive laws of geometry, from the starting point of a simple, well-made cardboard box."

PASTIFICIO LU/ Arabeschi di Latte

Pastificio is an installation functioning as a workshop for people to create their own home-made pasta. On display are raw materials (flour and eggs) and traditional cooking tools from Italy that can actually be used for preparation. Taking one simple mode of preparation, they will introduce different shapes of pasta and their characteristic, often strange names such as "strozzapreti" meaning "to strangle a priest." This being a tactile workshop, it stresses the guest to be involved creatively.

MOLESKINE Detour

Detour is a Moleskine traveling exhibition featuring a collection of decorated notebooks by internationally recognized artists, architects, film directors, designers, illustrators and other creators. The exhibition started in London in 2006. After stops in New York, Paris, Berlin and Istanbul, Detour now arrives at the MoMA Design Store in Tokyo. The exhibition supports the NPO lettera27, which aims to support the right to literacy, education, and expand the access to knowledge and information throughout the world and especially in the most deprived areas.

Anyone who loves to paint, take photos, illustrate, write or create freely can participate in the Moleskine project myDetour. Participants will find special collecting boxes at 5 locations in Tokyo where they can submit their own notebooks. All notebooks submitted will permanently join the archive of partner NPO lettera27, The ten most innovative notebooks selected by the jury will travel and be put on display at the next myDetour event. myDetour in Tokyo showcases the most innovative notebooks by past participants from Paris, New York, Berlin, Istanbul, Milan and Rome.

The work consists of film, illustration, photography and audio. It was created as mixed media, centered around a common theme of life and death. The melancholic feel created with different media searches for a higher common ground of interaction around the simple yet essential theme of life and death. The pieces were created in Copenhagen in 2009.

"Lisn" is a unique store, which proposes a rich lifestyle through the use of incense. It has developed original products with creative people from different backgrounds. It is named after the word "listen", which represents the Japanese tradition of "listening" to scent. The concept for the exhibition is to have the scent carry a certain color into the everyday space. The glass box designed exclusively for their incense by glass artist Momoo Omuro uses the technique called pate de verre, which weaves in new color into the space.

With a sense of nostalgia, even for a pattern that I have lived with for a long time like a shadow on my mind, or pattern not so familiar, I might encounter something different that I normally see. When I discovered my own shadow in the forest, the sky was blue, and the sun was shining high above."

"Autumn Spring" is an installation by "Little Red Dots", featuring a selection of their work made with, and inspired by found materials and objects. "Hanami", a sculptural lighting piece that uses reclaimed plastic promotional fans collected in Japan, is the main inspiration for the installation. With a clear reference to the cherry blossom season, Hanami's aim, through color and the playful re-interpretation of the function of a fan, is to help us re-consider our idea on brightness.

A collaborative photographic exhibition between LOMOGRAPHY and GELATIN SILVER SESSION. In an age where digital cameras are the norm, LOMOGRAPHY introduces its unique series of cameras proclaiming "The Future is Analogue". GELATIN SILVER SESSION preserves the tradition of gelatin silver photography for generations to come. Two analogue photography giants join together to spread enjoyment and excitement that can only be expressed through these media. Photographers use such LOMOGRAPHY cameras as the LOMO LC-A+ to characterize unpredictable low-tech photographs. Photographers who work in various fields show creativity through this first exhibition where they create their own work as artists.

It was founded in Denmark by three young men in 1997. It is an eye-wear company that leads the world in design and coloring, with over forty retail outlets in the world. It is known for its innovative combination of over four hundred colors and color tones. Much of its creation is inspired by things like airplanes and classic cars, as they work on distinctively creative production. They are all handmade in Japan, where each frame goes through the production process of over a hundred, and is made over a period of four to six months.

Dutch Designers present 'Treasure Hunt: Vanitas or Humanitas'

The exhibition title "Vanitas" is taken from the word vanity that signifies materialistic desire, whereas "Humanitas" represents humanity. What are we attracted to, even when our society appears as though it is sated materialistically? Since we are living in times of economic depression when the riches of the world could disappear in an instant, people have started to think in terms of what is truly valid and important. In this exhibition, they will introduce what each of these Dutch designers believe what is truly important and what catches their heart. We are bound to find some treasure in this hunt.

Art and Products of "MUSUBI"

The Japanese have a long history of cherishing the culture of "musubi (tying bows)" from the ancient times. There is the "musubi" in spirituality and the "musubi" that has spread through practicality. The beauty of the kimono can only be complete with the tying of an obi, the kimono bow, and people can tie their chance encounters to bring different elements to create a new bond. The exhibition will explore the world of a new "musubi". The "musubi" will be expressed as an art in manners, to create a contemporary "musubi" product using traditional material. You may find that this design in manners comes from a unique Japanese sensibility.

THE OUTLINE : THE UNSEEN OUTLINE OF THINGS/ Fukasawa Naoto , Fujii Tamotsu

Product designer Naoto Fukasawa shows the outline of things from unconscious elements based on people's common experiences. On the other hand, Tamotsu Fujii finds the outline of things that melt in light and air. The exhibition will show approximately 100 of Naoto Fukasawa’s product designs and photographs taken by Tamotsu Fujii for a 4 year span, with additional lectures and exhibits where you can experience their thoughts and perspectives. This is something never attempted before – to reveal what everyone has wanted to know, the “outline of design”. Opening talk "The outline the two artists see": October 31 (Sat) 14:00-16:00.

E&Y is a furniture label producing furniture and such with designers from all over the world. As "E&Y new collection 2009", it will present a new work "hammock" designed by designer, Koichi Futatsumata. How is this "hammock" going to be, from the person who is known for his simple and powerful designs? A new image was formed after the impression, pleasure, which can be naturally drawn from the word. They will introduce his other work, which mainly focuses on spatial design but ranges from architecture, furniture and product design.

The pot that Kazutoyo Yamamoto produced for this exhibition is one of which came from ideas in daily life. The geological stratum accumulated with layers of years and hours, radiate a definite strength in the layers of history that exist in the gentle current of time, and the comforting state communicates a gentleness that will receive everything . Through this pot, you can nurture the rich green by going home to your own land. Gradually, it grows into boasting young plant to return to the earth and grow people can become a green foster parent to pour affection into, which grows into a strong nursery tree, and gradually grows.

A little more than a decade has passed since the year 2000, and the 80's almost feel like what the 50's had to offer back then. To the kids today, the "SEX PISTOLS" is no doubt a part of the oldies. So let us envision our future 10 years from now; the future of children of the SEX PISTOLS that had no future. We could be gardening and sipping tea, but our background music will be the DEAD KENNEDYS, a San Francisco punk band that was hot in the 80's. The exhibition is realized with the cooperation of Yoshichu Mannequin Co. Ltd.

Babaghuri is a design shop with original, handmade furniture, homeware and clothing in natural materials. All are practical items for daily life designed by Jurgen Lehl. His latest works, made of lightweight pottery, use natural shapes such as coconuts and melons as molds. As each one is made by hand, the ethereal shapes are created by the natural warping that takes place during the firing process. Also, hand blown glass pendant vases will be on display.

My Little Drama - Acrobatics/ My Little Drama

My Little Drama is a collection of jewelry resulting from a collaboration between product designer Eva Schildt and illustrator Maja Sten. The first collection comprises of characters and motifs with a distinctive personality, some vain, some cheeky and some living their life on a string. All pieces are made of the highest quality silver and gold plated brass, and all production is done in Stockholm, Sweden.

Isetan Shinjuku

ISETAN LIVING ×more trees "Cuckoo Clock Collection"

Isetan shows a collection of cuckoo clocks made of thinning trees in collaboration with "more trees", an organization devoted to the preservation of forests. With the hope of presenting a product that can help make life more fun and to help regenerate the forest, they have decided to co-develop the cuckoo clock that have been favored through the times. The clocks were designed by product designer Naoto Fukasawa. Additionally, 50 artists and designers offered their support in customizing the clocks, based on the inspiration they receive from woods. 5% of all sales will be donated for forest preservation.

ISETAN LIVING FANTASY DREAM

Under the title "Fantasy Dream," Isetan Shinjuku will present many products that will help people relax and feel invigorated, so they can be happy and not be as tense in their daily life. Among the participants that represent this sophisticated lineup are Lladro and Jaime Hayon, Baccarat and Philippe Starck, Naoto Fukasawa and the Maruni Collection, as well as presentations by Time & Style and Sfera, both together with Isetan, and work made of Swarovsky crystals by Korean artist Hong Hyuju. Scheduled October 28 through November 10.

This flagship store, INHABITANT STORE TOKYO, of the lifestyle sports brand INHABITANT on Harajuku Cat Street was opened on the 1st of October 2009. The interior was designed Torafu, while the artwork was by Asao Tokolo. Two types of turtle-shell shapes were specially designed for this shop, infesting the floors, walls, ceiling and columns. Twelve “inhabitants” are introduced here, and they live secretly among these patterns in the cloudlike ceiling.
