Spatter… Move about… Products around you take life and start moving in the time called "vision". This is a visual installation that opens up a different viewpoint by replaying daily commodities with the change of time. Products come and go in super slow motion by the hi-speed camera "EXILIM" and animation to unify and estrange. This shall present us with the relationship with new products in the age of eco-friendly.

D〜ba 1st. Exhibition 「TREE」
The “Tree” exhibition produced by DESIGTIDE TOKYO is currently underway in Osaka.
D〜ba 1st. Exhibition 「TREE」
Data:2nd Oct.〜6th Nov. 2008 11:00〜21:00
Site: E〜ma1F D〜ba
A profusion of trees by designers and artists
Trees have always been a fertile resource for people – as a material essential to our lives, as well as a source of well-being and repose. However, forests are now disappearing, upsetting the natural balance of things and resulting in various distortions in the environment. Because their continued existence is indispensable, we wanted to reaffirm once again the wealth and richness that these trees bring to our lives – through exquisite forms and means of expression, for example. Designers and artists from Japan and around the world are influenced by the culture of various countries, using trees as the material, and sometimes the form, for their work. By featuring well-known products from the last century, as well as current and contemporary artworks, this exhibition hopes to share with audiences the various sentiments that these designers and artists have for trees.

From DesignTide to DESIGNTIDE TOKYO
How have you been spending this summer season?
It’s finally time again for this year’s DESIGNTIDE.
There has been much talk recently about the past 10 years in design, the intense environmental changes that have come with them, as well as the future that this practice of design will lead to.
The spread of design consciousness is a marvelous thing. The startling rate at which this change has occurred is testament to its serious potential.
For the 4th edition of DESIGNTIDE this year, when thinking about the future, we decided that we wanted to change the shape it would take – not just something superficial, but rather a hub of activity giving birth to a culture of design that would expand and grow, a starting point for future connections that we could be proud of. We wanted to work towards creating an inclusive and inviting hub that would attract serious creators.
This fall, members of this hub will come together again in a creative “TIDE” flowing out of Tokyo.
