| DesignTide is a messe for creators. |
DesignTide is an event that was created to inspire a new wave of design in Tokyo and to link people with design.
Previous design events in Tokyo have provided "free presentation space" and have permeated people's awareness of design. The feeling that design can have a positive influence on our lives is no longer shared amongst only a small group of people.
This development raises questions about the direction of future design events. Our aim is to create a positive environment where creators and people who support artists can find one another.
We often see a gap between these 2 parties, DesignTide hopes to help bridge that gap. We believe there is much potential in Japan and by bringing together all the necessary elements to stimulate new projects - the artists, distributors, manufacturers and retailers, at our new meeting space, or messe, we can help create a more interesting scene.
This kind of interaction feeds off itself and multiplies as a result. Through such events, networks grow organically and in turn ultimately enhance the quality of future design and design events in Tokyo.
This tide of design sets out to change the current generation, by linking people together, it is our hope we can help create a more harmonious world. |

| The concept of DesignTide; The three points |
DesignTide believes design shapes our future. We approach the event with the following 3 issues in mind. |
| [Quality] |
| The committee supports every participant in finding venues and coordinating contacts. Additionally, it maintains quality control of projects involved and limits the number of participating creators. We heighten the quality of the whole event as well as improve the general environment itself to give birth to more progressive design. |
| [Archive] |
We intend that our events not end up as just a one-off, but indeed connect to a more advanced environment by tracing the movements that have emerged in the process of the events. We edit and publish an annual archive. |
| [Communication] |
DesignTide provides booklets, maintains a website and runs an information centre. We also cooperate with the other events held around the same time so that the audience can migrate to and from different venues easily. We focus our efforts on the reformation of designing the design event itself. |
